Abstract

National Semiconductor Corp. plans to cut about 230 jobs at its South Portland computer-chip facility because of declining military business. The cuts, affecting 18 pecent of the current work force of 1,300, will not occur until June. National Semiconductor employed 1,800 in the 1980s.
