Abstract

William Shelley, a native of Falmouth who now lives in Atlanta, hopes to draw visitors to the Lakes Region with an excursion rail line along parts of the original Bridgton & Saco River Railway. The proposal comes at the same time that Portland businessman Phineas Sprague Jr. is trying to raise money for a narrow-gauge railway museum. Details and related story.
