Abstract

Residents of Long Island, which seceded from Portland seven months ago, will hold their first town meeting on Saturday, and will vote on everything from the town budget to a town seal. The proposed town budget for 1993-94 is $672,516. If it is approved, a Long Islander with property valued at $100,000 would pay $2,197 in taxes, as opposed to $2,466 last year under Portland's rule.
