Abstract

The Maine Senate voted 19-16 in favor of a mandatory seat-belt law which would allow the ticketing of people 19 and older who are stopped for another violation and are not wearing their seat belt. The bill now goes to Governor McKernan, who opposes the bill but has not decided whether he will veto it.
