Abstract

Conservation Commissioner C. Edwin Meadows warned lawmakers that proposed budget cuts in his department will heighten the risk of major forest fires, the deterioration of state parks and shoddy land-use practices. Budget proposals outlined by the McKernan administration would cut $4.5 million in funding and result in an 11 percent manpower reduction. Details.
