Abstract

A group of three dozen people from the Penobscot, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy and Micmac tribes who are members of the new Indian organization IRATE (Indigenous Resistance Against Tribal Extinction) is demanding that the University of Southern Maine drop two non-credit courses that the group claims are exploitive of native American rituals and spirituality.
