Abstract

Article about the history of Portland's Mercy Hospital, which was founded 75 years ago in response to the 1918 flu epidemic that killed 4,000 people in southern Maine in 60 days. The hospital will celebrate its 75th anniversary Sunday at a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Dominic's Church.
