Abstract
A public hearing on requests by two out-of-state companies to be allowed to open for-profit methadone treatment centers in South Portland was the first opportunity for the public to speak about methadone use in Maine. Several substance abuse experts spoke against long-term maintenance use of methadone, which is the trend for clients of Habit Management and the Center for Behavioral Health in the clinics they run in other states. Details of proposed regulations.
