Abstract

The National Fisheries Institute in Washington and the New England Fisheries Development Association in Boston are two of the organizations involved in developing indirect methods to manage New England's commercial fish populations. The hope is that new products and markets for throwaway fish will take pressure off declining stocks of cod, haddock and other groundfish by giving fishermen new opportunites to make money.
