Abstract

An improving economy has convinced Gov. John R. McKernan that he can expect an increase of around $50 million in revenues over the next two years, which could benefit some educational and social-service programs slated for deep budget cuts. The two-year state budget totals just under $3 billion, and budget cuts would avert a $1 billion gap between revenues and expenses.
