Abstract

A group of Freeport women has launched a campaign to raise $500,000 for 7-year-old Stephanie Mitchell, a Passamaquoddy Indian who has short gut syndrome, a rare condition that prevents her body from getting nutrition from food. Stephanie has only 5 percent of a normal small intestine and must live on an intravenous solution.
