Abstract

Bath Iron Works has begun the largest breast-cancer screening program ever in Maine, offering free education and examinations to all female employees and dependents 35 years of age and older, which company officials estimate will total 3,000 women. Breast cancer is one of the most curable of cancers if detected early, and a screening and office visit cost about $130.
