Abstract

Long article on the battle waged by state toxicologist Robert A. Frakes over dioxin levels in Maine waters, contamination levels in Maine fish and the protection of the public from harmful exposure. Frakes recently resigned his position, and the Bureau of Environmental Protection has postponed adapting new dioxin standards until the federal government completes a reassessment of dioxins toxicity.
