Abstract

The Maine House voted 71-59 and the Senate voted 21-13 in support of legislation that would extend to homosexuals the same protection from discrimination that others in Maine enjoy. Both houses rejected a measure that would put the issue to a statewide vote, despite Gov. McKernan's threat that it was the only alternative to a veto. Voting record.
