Abstract

Marine Resources Commissioner William Brennan said his office opposes the bill proposing state licenses for saltwater sport fishermen because the license money would go the the state Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department, which regulates fishing and inland waters. Brennan did say that licensing requirement would give the state a better idea of saltwater anglers and the volume of fish being taken from Maine's coastal waters.
