Abstract

Maine Attorney General Michael E. Carpenter says that personalized letters from Maine sheriffs inviting constituents to register as citizen members of the Maine Sheriffs' Association for an annual fee of $20 violate a law which bars police from soliciting money. The law awas recently ruled constitutional by a federal judge.
