Abstract

The complex list of cuts and reorganizations outlined last weeek by University of Maine President Frederick Hutchinson as part of a downsizing for the university will turn the Orono campus into a school with fewer students, fewer programs and higher academic standards. Hutchinson believes the university is at a crossroads, and drastic action is needed to maintain or improve the quality of education.
