The Irwin Co. of Wilmington, Ohio, which operates a 145-worker plant in Gorham, has announced plans to merge with American Tool Companies Inc., a diversified manufacturer and worldwide marketer of hand tools. Irwin, which recently announced a $5 million expansion of the Gorham facility, makes power-tool accessories.
