Abstract

A tentative contract settlement covering 12,500 state employees and costing about $18 million was announced Friday night. The agreement, subject to union ratification and approval by the Legislature and the governor, would gradually do away with shutdown and furlough days and allow workers to collect the 7 percent pay they received on paper two years ago.
