Abstract

A laser-guided tunneling machine that burrows beneath the ground while simultaneously installing pipe is part of a $2.75 million project to build a new storm drainage system for an area of Portland between Brighton Avenue and the Fore River. The machine has cut a 1,500-foot-long tunnel with little disruption to the neighborhood above. Details.
