Abstract

A team of researchers and volunteers led by Gary Hoyle of the Maine State Museum is searching through the clay of a site in Scarborough for the remains of a mammoth buried for more than 10,000 years. The site was first discovered in 1959 when a 6 1/2- foot-long ivory tusk was found. Details, related article.
