Abstract

The Canadian province of New Brunswick has levied an 11 percent sales tax on goods purchased in the U.S. and other Canadian provinces, and Maine retailers along the northern border say it has dramatically affected their sales to Canadians. Many Maine retailers along the border with New Brunswick depend on sales to Canadians for a large part of their business.
