Abstract

Six Portland police officers were sprayed in the face with a painful cayenne pepper-based spray that is being added to their arsenal. The object was to teach them that although the spray has no lasting effects, like mace, for example, it should not be used unless really needed. All officers will have to endure a blast before being issued the spray.
