Abstract

Central Maine Power Company and and the operators of a utility pole distribution facility on Sligo Road in Yarmouth plan to fence in the 14 acre site because of contamination probably caused preservatives used to treat the utility poles, Several thousand gallons of creosote spilled at the site in the 1940s and a fire destroyed 1,000 treated poles in 1954.
