Abstract

Auburn resident Ramon "Bud" Villani discovered a Civil War-era diary, written by an unidentified woman, while ripping out a wall during renovations of an Auburn farmhouse. The diary holds entries which comment on national events such as Lee's surrender and Lincoln's assassination and also offer a glimpse into a woman's life on a rural homestead in the 1860s.
