Abstract

The two-year state budget that took effect July 1 includes $6.9 million in General Assistance funds for each year of the biennium, down from more than $11 million this past year. The state will only pick up 67 percent of the cost from now on, compared to 82 percent previously, which means that fewer recipients will receive less aid and the larger cities and towns will have to pay a bigger share of the bill.
