Abstract

The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has asked the Navy for permission to eliminate 800 to 1,000 jobs by mid-1993. The number of employees is currently 6,400, down from 8,300 in 1990. In 1991, the Navy approved the eliminated of 1,400 jobs, but only 486 were actually cut. Details.
