Abstract

A German firm which bought a New Jersey warehouse formerly used by a children's book club has given 330,000 children's books to Greater Portland schools. The warehouse contained about 5 million books. Former Portland Superintendent of Schools Peter Greer, now a headmaster of a private school in New Jersey, played a role in directing some of the books to Portland.
