Abstract

Since 1988, Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) has been granted seven rate hike requests that have increased overall electric rates by 49 percent. The utility is now asking for an additional $82 million, a 10 percent hike, which has triggered a ratepayer revolt and led some customers to abandon CMP. Details.
