Abstract

A New Jersey man's claim to have a copy of the Mona Lisa has prompted Portland Museum of Art officials to put "La Gioconda" on display in the lower ground-floor gallery. "La Giaconda" is a painting which scholars have been trying to authenticate as a study for the Mona Lisa since it was donated to the museum in 1982.
