Abstract

Sue Dee Weir of Old Orchard Beach has sued the American Red Cross, charging that its failure to use adequate blood testing procedures led to her becoming infected with AIDS after a 1985 transfusion. Weir received four units of blood while undergoing a hysterectomy at the Henrietta D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. With a related article about what life has been like since Weir discovered she has AIDS, a fact related to her by her doctor over the telephone.
