Abstract

Architect Peter McDonald argues that Portland shouldn't yield to the temptation to build a bare-bones, utilitarian train station because of fears that passenger rail service between Portland and Boston may not succeed. McDonald contends that the quality of the design might have an important impact on whether the service succeeds or fails.
