Abstract

The International Council of Museums' Wet Organic Archaeological Materials fifth triennial conference will be held next week at the Sonesta Hotel in Portland. The conference, which will focus on the conservation of organic artifacts from "wet" sites, could provide a boost to the local effort to preserve the Snow Squall, a South Portland-built clipper ship which was abandoned in the Falkland Islands in 1864 and returned to Maine in 1987.
