Abstract

A battle appears to be shaping up over whether the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery should be declared a Superfund Cleanup site. The yard scored a 67.5 on the Environnmental Protection Agency's hazardous ranking system, well above the 28.5 need to be included. Opponents of the the Superfund designation fear that it will prevent the transfer of property should the yard be closed.
