Abstract

Somerset County Sheriff's Department reserve deputy Thomas Giroux, who was present the night that Katherine Hegarty was killed, told investigators during a June 1 interview he could have prevented Hegarty's death but was denied the opportunity. The deputy is a longtime friend of the Hegarty family.
