Abstract

Ten-year-old Kelly DeWitt, who has confessed to having set a fatal fire in Biddeford recently, probably falls into a group of 10 to 14 year old children known as "crisis fire setters." These children start fires when faced with emotional crises that make them feel powerless. Starting fires gives them a sense of control. DeWitt, whose father didn't want her living with him, was afraid of her mother's boyfriend. With tips on fire-safety and children.
