Abstract

Some members of the Legislature's Transportation Committee are voicing opposition to a McKernan administration proposal which would have the state sell a 4.8 mile stretch of Interstate 95 between the York tollbooth and Kittery to the Maine Turnpike Authority for $16 million. Consumers would end up paying higher tolls to finance the purchase and the $5 million in interest payments it would require.
