Abstract

A bass militia drum made in the 1800s is at the center of a dispute between the town of Alna and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Judge Charles Black of Hingham, Mass., a descendant of some of the first settlers in Alna, donated the drum to the museum in 1986, and now Alna town officials are claiming ownership. Details.
