Abstract

Police are concerned by the recent theft of nitrous oxide from hospitals in Bridgton, North Conway and Norway. Nitrous oxide is properly used by hospitals as an anesthia. It can be used improperly inhaled to produce a "high." Such use can produce irregularities in blood pressure and breathing. The gas is used as a propellent in cans of whipped cream.
