Abstract

Because precipitation across the state during the past 12 months has averaged 15 to 29 percent below normal, the state's emergency management director is urging Mainers to voluntarily conserve water. A drought is in effect in most parts of the state--particularly in Androscoggin, Kennebec, Lincoln, Waldo and Washington counties. Northwest York County is also extremely dry.
