Abstract

Gov. John McKernan, in signing a bill last June authorizing the restructuring of the Department of Human Services, created the Task Force on Juvenile Justice, which meets monthly to discuss reform of the state's juvenile justice system. One focus of the group is to determine whether juvenile justice matters should remain under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections or be moved under the newly-created Department of Children and Families.
