Abstract

Maine cable companies and television stations are currently negotiating over the 1992 Cable Act, which allows local TV stations to demand payment from cable systems that rebroadcast the station's signals. Both sides are broadcasting advertisements which claim that the other side will be responsible if the negotiations fail. Details, related article, "Ad Watch" piece.
