Abstract

A report issued by the Northern Forest Lands Council says the 26-million-acre northern forest is suffering from fragmentation and degradation, and proposes tax overhauls and the creation of ecological reserves as responses. The report draws on two years of study of the northern forest, which includes tracts in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and northern New York. Details.
