Abstract

Last week's announcement by House Speaker John L. Martin that he intends to serve out his term is creating friction in the state Democratic Party. Some legislators who supported Martin during an ouster attempt last March feel betrayed, saying they were led to believe that Martin would step down from the post of speaker after the first regular session ended in June.
