Abstract

A wolf-like creature shot in the woods of northern Maine on August 31 is being analyzed at a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service laboratory in Oregon, but it might be months before a positive identification is made on the animal. DNA testing of tissue and a detailed measurement of the skull will determine whether the animal is indeed a wolf as suspected. Details.
