Abstract

The results of an 18-month study of the city's transportation system and a plan to improve that system will be presented to the Portland City Council next week. Proposals in the plan include changing the zoning along Forest Avenue, instituting changes to encourage motorists to slow down along Stevens Avenue, a transportation center near the University of Southern Maine campus and the reduction of single-occupancy vehicle commuting.
