Abstract

A grass-roots effort is underway to save the Portland 5&10 store, which is slated to close next month because the Massachusetts company that owns it is going out of business. The 21,000-square-foot store is one of downtown Portland's largest remaining stores, and dozens of customers and a number of civic groups are trying to keep it from closing. Details.
