Abstract
Portland recently formed the Deering Oaks Master Plan Committee to preserve and improve Deering Oaks park for future generations, and has hired the Boston landscape consulting firm The Halvorson Company to assist the committee. The committee will consider, among other things, closing the park to traffic, parking and the Deering Oaks Family Festival, all in an attempt to minimize human impact on the park and prolong the life of its natural resources.
