Abstract

Some analysts believe the recent Liberal Party victory in Canada could indirectly benefit Maine by increasing the buying power of residents of the Maritime provinces. It is unlikely, however, that the new government will change plans to abandon the entire Canada Pacific rail system east of Sherbrook, which is expected to have severe effects on businesses in northern and eastern Maine.
