Abstract

New guidelines issued by Superintendent Thomas Edwards of the Portland school system has led to the cancellation of plans to host Outright Portland, a support group for gay and lesbian youths. The new guidelines mandate a balanced view on every issue presented to students, but educators are having trouble locating heterosexual students willing to speak alongside the gay and lesbian speakers of Outright Portland.
